Default I'm Sick of "Realistic" Batman

So, The Batman Part 2 is on its way. And with the premiere of The Penguin on HBO and MAX, I’m super excited for the future and for what Matt Reeves is gonna bring to the rest of this world.

I loved The Batman, it’s easily my favorite of the live action Batman movies, and Penguin is shaping up to be equally fantastic.

But after this? I have to say I’m ready for the “realistic Batman” stories to be done with and for us to hang up the cape on that vision for the character.

Because more than just the inherent silliness of a guy dressing up as a bat to fight crime, so much of Batman’s rogues gallery and supporting characters like Robin hinge on the supernatural and the comic book elements, and confining this universe to just “the real world” feels creatively limiting and puts these stories in a box when they can be so much more.

Realism is lowkey a plague that has infested a lot of versions of Batman. Realism truly robs Batman of some of his most fun and interesting stories. It does this via the obsession for a grounded story one that forgoes other heroes the Bat-Family and anything remotely supernatural like Zatanna for example. Just bored of hyper real Batman.
