Default How do I properly hook up a hdmi splitter? YET ANOTHER ISSUE!

I have a LG TV as well as a PS4 and a Blu Ray player. In the past, I had only one connected to the back of my TV to use it. I decided to get a hdmi splitter. I hooked both devices up to it but when I turn both on, the tv only recognizes one device. It only recognizes the other one when I connect that device to the hdmi splitter and disconnect the other one. I don’t know what to do. Anyone can help?

The third picture has one of the devices hooked up to the hdmi splitter and they work when I press the input the button, the fourth picture is where all two of the hdmi plugs are and the two back of the picture TVs show the model number.

For your setup scenario (one TV, two output devices), you will need a HDMI Switch rather than HDMI Splitter. HDMI Splitter is used when you have multiple displays and only one output device, and want to display the signal from output device on multiple TVs.

HDMI Switch work the opposite way. It will allow multiple HDMI output devices (PS4 and Blu Ray player) to be hooked up to a single TV and you can switch between two output devices to be displayed on the TV.

You probably have a communication issues between devices and your display. For HDMI connection, there is a thing called "Handshake" which have to occur between the device and display in order for the signal (video and audio) to go thru. You may have to turn the input device (PS4 or Blu Ray player) and TV Off and back On for the device you planning to use, so the digital Handshake can occur between the device and TV.

It is also recommended to turn Off the other input device that is connected to the HDMI Switch which you are not using. So if you are planning to connect PS4 to the TV, turn the Bluray player Off that is connected to the switch.

As a side note, you said you only have two devices (PS4 and Bluray) that you like to switch between. But I see in the your photo that you three HDMI cables input hooked up to the HDMI Switch. What device is the third HDMI cable hooked up to?

Thanks. The third one I use for my NES classic edition and my snes classic edition. I haven’t tried them on my switch yet.

Thanks. It’s not a lot of money though. Less than $30.
