In a nutshell,the speaker states that a lot of the depression and mental problems of todays people is due to these blasted electronic devices.

We basically have zero down time,every waking moment we fill it with something.

Even walking down the street we feel the need to stare down at our phones and be mentally "occupied". (Well I dont but anyway......)

I rarely look at my phone. I really don't care too either. I once in a while check emails or messages, but I have no interest in it. I sometimes feel I always have to be doing something, but lately I enjoy having nothing to do.

I kinda thought that was what it was supposed to be. He's used dues so many times. He must mean dudes, although he got his screen name right.

That actually was/ is a really good song. I just now found it on YouTube and played it, I hadn't heard it in a while.. Mott the Hoople was a really good old underrated band.
