Just saw that Andy cook got lethal injection the other day. I think he's the guy that killed a couple in ga and fled in a crx.

Ok just found a link for it.

Incredibly sad case. I remember reading that Cook's father worked for the FBI and was involved in securing Cook's arrest. The only thing that I can say is I hope this can bring closure to the victim's families but in a case like this there really is only heartache all around.

I have always wanted to know what the real motive was for the killings. I know the UM segment theorized the killer knew them, but wasn't it established that he didn't?

I always thought this had jealous rage written all over it. It was a brutal murder, I thought maybe Andy Cook did know them and maybe had a thing for Michelle and when it wasn't reciprocated he stalked and murdered them in a jealous rage. Of course this is just a theory.

Perhaps others have more information than I do, but from my recollection of the arrest is that Cook did not know his victims and it was a random act of violence.

I also remember Cook stating that the time of the murders, was a particularly dark time in his life and he may have even referenced his belief that he was under the influence of the devil at this point in his life. What I can't remember is if he mentioned that he was actually practicing Satanic worship at the time of the murders or just felt that his actions were motivated by the devil.

It was a horrific crime, however I would be remiss not to mention that personally I hope that Andy Cook has found peace. He seemed at least to make a concentrated effort to turn his life around once incarcerated although obviously one could argue that this could've all been in hopes of building a stronger case for himself while he was fighting the death penalty.

Without knowing the motive, its hard to really assess what went wrong with Andy Cook and whether he turned his life around.

I can't see how this was a random act of violence, something caused him to flip out.

I still think jealousy had something to do with this crime at least to some degree. Maybe he didn't know Grant and Michelle well, but he was somehow acquinted with them or aware of them before the night of the shooting.

Anytime a couple of lovers get shot like this, I think 90% of the time it is at least to some degree jealousy.

For instance, I have always theorized that the Zodiac killer had poor luck in relationships with women and targeted lovers out on outings. Perhaps something similar happened to Andy Cook.

I think spitting on her was his final act of dispise, either against her or against women in general.I think that's a good clue as to why he did it.he made no final act twds the male.

This case had an impact on me, more so than others. I remember watching the Angela Hammond case around the time that it originally aired and feeling sadness that she was most likely dead and feeling frightened as the actress screamed for her boyfriend as she was being driven away, never to be seen again.

The murders of the Rogers women at the hands of an unknown assailant, later determined to be Oba Chandler filled me with the realization, even at 12 that there was true evil in the world and rage, several years later when more details were known and a suspect was finally identified and convicted.

At the time of the Cartagena-Hendrickson murders I was just entering the second semester of my senior year in high school, but didn't become acquainted with the case until it aired on UM in the fall of 1996.

At the time, I would often go to the basement of our college dorm and watch UM alone, since I think I was one of the only ones that still followed the show on a regular basis.

The re-enactment did a good job of conveying the love Michele and Grant had for each other and I remember Michele's roommate distictively said he treated her "like gold." As the gunman came upon them firing closer and closer, I remember the could only imagine the terror they must have felt before they were killed.

Part of the reason I remember watching it was, no doubt, because of the extreme violence and re-enactment, but also because I was around the same age as Michele and Grant and also in college. had they survived, I have little doubt that they probably would've gotten married and started a family and gone on to do great things.

It did seem from what i've read online, that Andrew Cook felt remorse and was truly sorry for what he had done, so i honestly can't hate him as I did with Oba Chandler. Truly a sad case all around.

I thought this local news clip from two days before Cook's execution was interesting because the sheriff that investigated the case gives his insights. I am hoping I am not in violation of any T&C and apologize if I am.

I've seen a great good many of the segments probably hundreds of times over, and there is still NO WAY I could do that.

Just watched this one the other night. Definitely a weird case, and feels like there was a lot more to this than UM put out.

Even by the account in the segment, this could not have been entirely random. The same Blue CRX was seen stalking and harassing them hours before the killing. I suspect there was a road rage component or something else to this that was not brought up.

The lengths they went to in order to solve this, as well as the fact that he actually got the death penalty suggests something too. Who were the victims connected to? Did Cook do something else that made them so eager to execute him? Definitely more than meets the eye here.

I still think it had something to do with jealousy. Whenever couples get shot up on a rendezvous like this that's often what it is. I think he had a thing for Michelle and it was not reciprocated and he just blew. . Even if he was mixed up in Satanism or something like that I still believe this could be the case. Because the practice can fuel people's rage.

I just read that the suspected shooter of Charlie Kirk is a 22 year old from Utah. He confessed to his father, and the father, or a family friend contacted authorities.

This immediately made me think about the Andrew Cook case because I believe he also confessed to his father, an FBI agent, and his father contacted authorities.

As a parent, I can't think of anything worse, especially when it is a capital case.

The 22 year old suspect, Tyler Robinson, still has to be formally charged, convicted, and ultimately sentenced, but Charlie Kirk's life, like Grant Hendrickson and Michele Cartagena's was senselessly cut short, and the perpetrators, Andy Cook, and potentially Tyler Robinson's lives are also wasted.

And the parents, spouses, children, of the victims and the perpetrators are also destroyed.

My state doesn't have the death penalty, but I am not opposed to it in certain circumstances.

Utah is a very concervative state, and I can't remember too many cases where the President of the United States weighs in on what the punishment should be.

I can only think of Nixon and the Manson killings and Donald Trump and this current case.

Again, I am not saying these cases are identical, but this thread immediatly came to mind when I saw the updates on CNN today.
