Default BestTVever you were right and I was wrong

There was a personality conflict between Linda Lavin and Polly Holiday according to this article from Sept of 1980. Im surprised the book "Alice, Life Behind the Counter in Mel's Greasy Spoon didnt mention anything about it at all. So you were right all along and I always thought it was something made up on this board. So now we know why she didnt come back

You give me too much credit. I am not really right. I was just writing what everyone knew and knows. I was a huge fan of Alice and watched in real time. I was 10 and was upset Flo was being almost forced from the show. Diane was fine but was also upset when she left too. The entire situation frustrates me to this day because of this drama we missed out on reunions before Vic passed. Even after he passed there were never any reunions either. Even worse Flo and Belle were not even mentioned in the series final. This was back in the days when people had class. They did not run to the tabloids and complain or leak drama to the press. If you are not happy where you belong you just simply move on. For Polly the easy solution was just giving her a show of her own.

I don't think they would have appeared in the final but Alice was such a long running sitcom. It probably went on a season too long but its final should have included Flo and Belle. Even Suzanne Sommers and Joyce DeWitt eventually buried the hatchet. Its sad this never happened on Alice.
I was reading there was supposed to be a 20th anniversary reunion of Threes Company in 1997 but the actors were still so mad at each other that they started fighting on the phone calls and could not even get that far to actually meet.
I like Linda Lavin but come on girl. You should have moved on from jealousy and resentment and had an Alice reunion.

I am stealing this from the other thread but here Diane talks about her joining Alice. She was hesitant to join because Polly and Linda did not get along. She says she was lied to that they were all rumors. Once she joined she realized it was all true. The show was making her sick so she had to leave.
