Larry Hagman and Linda Gray tell me Warner Bros. contacted them about reviving their J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing characters for an updated version of Dallas. The new show, in development for TNT, would focus on their hunky son, John Ross, and Pam and Bobby’s kid, Christopher—with the original players taking on the Jock/Miss Ellie–like supporting grandparent roles.
“I know we wouldn’t be the central part and I never accept anything until I get a script,” says Larry, 78. Linda added that she would refuse to play Sue Ellen if she were back on the bottle—or wearing frumpy grandmotherly threads. “I’m not going to wear little boring dresses with pearls around my neck,” jokes Linda, now a 69-year-old grandma of an 18-year-old. “At this age, Sue Ellen should be a powerhouse role model. Don’t mess with Texas, honey!” But since Melrose Place 2.0 has been struggling for viewers, is it really a good idea to reopen the gates of Southfork? Speaking like a true Ewing, Larry has just one question: “How much we talkin’?” http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/kecks...wing-2875.html |
