Some other factoids...I don't recall this being rerun in the daytime till 1971 and of course Fred seemingly is NOT dreaming this until the final part!!!!

I absolutely LOVE that episode and it's one of my favorites! The other ep I love is when it is discovered that Barney is an amazing singer but he can only sing in the shower. But I hated the way they ended that ep. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it.

I managed to find this. It's the one I remember. So this didn't make the DVD?
I'll never understand why so many Flintstones openings/closing were altered for syndication (mostly episodes from the first two seasons), other than laziness/money saving in making TV prints from the black and white-aired seasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDkQpmr_V0k |

By the way, to answer an around 10 year old question earlier in this thread, according to Wikipedia, two episodes in the final season used this animation/song for the closing credits: "Royal Rubble" (6-13) and "Fred Goes Ape" (6-16).

Any song by Pebbles and Bam Bam about fighting the devil makes the invention of television completely worth it.

If the syndication episodes have it (which at least one does, as shown on the Youtube clip) why would they change the DVD set? (unless it's a music licensing issue.) |

Just to reply to a several years-old post: yes, there are two episodes on the 6th season DVD set that have the "Open Up Your Heart and Let The Sunshine In" closing...they are "Royal Rubble" and "Seeing Doubles". I noticed the original airdates for those were just before Christmas, so I wonder if that had something to do with it. When I was a kid watching reruns in the '70s, I'm sure I remember the 6th-season premiere "No Biz Like Show Biz" (where they sing the whole song) as having it too. Either I could be mis-remembering, or they stripped it out of the syndicated reruns since then. Some people online have suggested they used this closing for several episodes that season, rather than just the two on the DVD set. I guess there's no way of knowing for sure unless anyone here remembers what the other episodes might have been? Too bad there weren't more w/o/c prints around from that season. |
