Showtime's "Yellowjackets" to Air Bonus Episode between Seasons 2 and 3

Showtime’s "Yellowjackets" will air a bonus episode between the just-wrapped Season 2 and the forthcoming Season 3, co-creator and executive producer Ashley Lyle tweeted Thursday.

Lyle’s confirmation of the extra hour came in a response to a fan who tweeted that they were going to stay up until the wee hours of Friday — the day on which Season 2 episodes dropped online each week — to find out if there was a secret follow-up to Episode 9, AKA the May 25 season finale.

“Noooo. Go to bed! Get some rest!” Lyle tweeted. “There will be a bonus episode between seasons, but I love you guys and I don’t want y’all to lose sleep thinking it’s tonight.”

With the Season 3 announcement, we have yet to hear anything about the “bonus episode.” Is it dead now? –Oliver

There have been no updates about the “bonus” episode that was announced nearly 18 months ago and was supposed to air between seasons. Paramount+ has had nothing to share when I’ve checked in on its status.

Melanie Lynskey Says Husband's Standalone "Yellowjackets" Episode is "Lost to Time"

It was announced in 2023 that there was supposed to be a "bonus episode" of "Yellowjackets" in-between Seasons 2-3 and fans have been wondering about its status ever since.

During an interview with EW's The Awardist podcast, "Yellowjackets" star Melanie Lynskey confirmed that her husband, Jason Ritter, filmed an episode of the Showtime drama that has yet to air.

"I thought it was so funny. He was in our rental house in Vancouver," says Lynskey. "We were staying there for Yellowjackets — or maybe it was when he was doing his episode, and I was doing something else. His lost episode, lost to time or whatever."

Lynskey responded when pressed for more details, "It was a standalone episode. I'm not allowed to say who he played. I do not know if it will air."
