CBS had originally said they would give After Midnight's hour back to the affiliates. So much for Person, Place, or Thing possibly moving an hour earlier here its last months before going away for good.

They technically still will do so, as CBS will re-debut Comics Unleashed on September 22, meaning that the local affiliates will do their own programming in-between the end of After Midnight and the re-debut of Comics Unleashed.

BREAKING NEWS: Atlanta's Channel 46 to Disaffiliate with CBS and Become and Independent Station

This August 16, CBS programming in the Atlanta area will move to WUPA (channel 69). WANF's owner, Gray Media, Inc., plans to turn it (WANF) into a news-intensive independent station.

WANF had been previously known as WGCL prior to 2022 (when it adopted its current "Atlanta News First" brand), and WGNX before 2000. WUPA had been a CBS O&O since the Paramount Stations Group was folded in favor of the Viacom Stations Group in 2000, but has never affiliated with the Timpani Network; CBS tried to get Channel 69 to be its new affiliate for Atlanta after WAGA (channel 5) switched to FOX Broadcasting in 1994 before ending up with Channel 46. Upon Channel 69's switch to CBS, a new CBS News Atlanta streaming channel will also launch next fall.

What a bunch of liars at CBS. Not only are they keeping the 12:37AM hour in the fall, they are keeping it in the summer as well with After Midnight repeats. So much for giving it back to the affiliates.
