I don't have a lot of details or information with me right now, but it has been alleged that Richard Moll didn't get along with Harry Anderson and/or John Larroquette. Also, Richard could allegedly, be combative, whether it was over scripts or just his outspoken nature. It appears that Richard Moll was one of those actors who took his work and craft really seriously and had little tolerance for cutting up, ab-libbing, or flubbed lines on set.

Of course the original story and him saying that is 10 years old now. Things can change after all this time. Not that I am holding my breath for him to appear on new show either. Ultimately it’s not the same situation. With major figures who have died since than. So it could never be the reunion he was asked about 10 years ago.
Just this week Nana Visitor most famous for Deep Space Nine appeared on a Star Trek Podcast. When asked about work before that she mentioned guest staring on Night Court. Season 6. She said it was not fun at all. Only people friendly to her was John Larroquette and producer Reinhold Weege. Though she mentioned at that point the show was on for a very long time. That everyone was going through the motions. In prep for new show I found old (2017) John Laroquette interview with Marc Maron I had never heard before. He had nothing bad to say about anyone. But did say it got very tedious having such a long run. Explaining that typical of successful shows the original creator and/or show runner eventually leave after a few seasons. Than it’s up to new producers to try and keep things interesting. Nothing news there. That is normal for most long running shows. We like to think everyone is friends on tv shows. But it’s a job. They spend a lot of time working together and go back to private lives. Even actors who get along really well often say they have every intention of staying in touch when job ends, usually do not. They go on to other work and eventually lose touch over time. |

Over the years I've had the chance to email with some NC writers and guest stars who offered up some tea. They wouldn't deep dive, only to say that Moll was mood-swingy at times and would isolate from everyone else. Who knows what was going on with him. Playing a big dumb lug for years and years may finally get to be too much.
Plus the guy just turned 80. Mostly retired except it seems appearing in the occasional video game or documentary (including one last year on the history of Empire Pictures). |

The optimal time for a reunion show/movie would have been around 2000 to 2005.
It's sad that he's not interested, but it's better for the whole production value that he's honest and upfront about not doing it. |

There must have been an incident(s) which led to Moll not getting along with Harry and or John. It's a shame he couldn't stand either or both of him when the show ended in 1992. Moll was awesome playing his character.
I'm divided whether he should have left Night Court (why work on a show if the environment is upsetting/toxic?) if he was that unhappy or whether to praise him for being professional enough to finish the show to its finale even though it was unpleasant. |

That’s what I meant - no loss in death or not returning to the show.

Now that Richard "Bull" Moll is dead and buried, the chances of him making a possible special guest appearance--or even a brief cameo--on the current Night Court reboot are unfortunately as slim as a stick of beef jerky; it sadly appears that proverbial ship has long since sailed off into the sunset...may he rest comfortably in peace.
