What irked me is towards the end the show recycled scripts. Jack accidently going to be a nude model in season 2 and then it happened again in a much later season. Janet's sister and Larry's sister were the same premise where both were afraid of Jack taking out their sister after they first went along with it. Look what I found with the kitten is same plot when the kids hid the puppy from the landlord. In a very late episode the kids are hiding a kitten from the landlord. I remember John Ritter said once that when he got the script for Look What I Found he knew the show was coming to an end because of the recycled script.

It could have been they were trying to bring back some of the charm of the earlier years, but by that time the show was past it's prime

When a sitcom goes past 5 years the writers run out of ideas and they always need to bring in new writers which is why every sitcom the writing suffers post 4 seasons. Threes Company is no different. Happened with All In The Family, Golden Girls, Roseanne, etc. Its hard to keep a sitcom fresh after 5 years
