My apologies if someone else has mentioned this....I only had the patience to scroll through a few pages of posts for this show...but the one thing that REALLY bugs me about PJ is that the little doorway in the lobby will be the basement in some episodes and just a closet in the others. It must be magic like the room of requirement. lol.

What I get a kick out of, is no phone. In todays society you could make do. People have cell phones. but then in the 1960's no phone for miles. I did see in the JUne Lockhart episodes she has a phone, but its funny for it isn't much of update from her Lassie days. I think Gidget had fairy perky phone for the day. I also never see many guests at the Shady Rest. No wonder, You can't phone it. What would they do without Sam Drucker.?

Around the time Gidget aired, the Cissy character on Family Affair got her "princess" model phone. I'd have to try to check to see if the Family Affair ep came before Gidget began.

Generally in the rural shows, the old-fashioned phones as in Drucker's store (PJ and Green Acres) was a nod to how the setting was behind the times as far as technology.

Actually, the two needs are not mutually exclusive. The episodes where it seem a closet, where "stuff" is chucked out and on the lobby floork, I do not remember seeing an episode where we can look inside the doorway and see the usual closet features, like shelving and hangers. The amount of "stuff" on the floor cannot come from a typical closet, unless it is a TARDIS.

There was a phone to the left of the entrance but it wasn't connected uncle joe said it was there just to give the place a little class.
