I've been looking over the latest posts on the Blu Ray forums, and they were talking about Speedy at one point. George Feltenstein did mention Pepé and Speedy, and said they haven't been forgotten.
Many Speedys are not shown on TV at all. A few are on MeTV, most from the DFE era. As far as I know the Turner networks show no Speedy cartoons: Tabasco Road (McKimson, 1957) - last release on Platinum Collection 2; not on MeTV networks Gonzales' Tamales (Freleng, 1957) - last release on Golden Collection 3; not on MeTV networks Tortilla Flaps (McKimson, 1958) - last release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks Mexicali Shmoes (Freleng, 1959) - last release on Platinum Collection 2; not on MeTV networks Here Today, Gone Tamale (Freleng, 1959) - last release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks West of the Pesos (McKimson, 1960) - last widely avail. release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks Cannery Woe (McKimson, 1961) - last widely avail. release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks The Pied Piper of Guadalupe (Freleng, Pratt, 1961) - last widely avail. release on Platinum Collection 3; not on MeTV networks Mexican Boarders (Freleng, Pratt, 1962) - last widely avail. release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks Chili Weather (Freleng, 1963) - last widely avail. release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks A Message to Gracias (McKimson, 1964) - last widely avail. release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks Pancho's Hideaway (Freleng, 1964) - last widely avail. release on Golden Collection 4; not on MeTV networks Assault and Peppered (McKimson, 1965) - no DVD or Blu-Ray release; not on MeTV networks The Spy Swatter (Larriva, 1967) - no DVD or Blu-Ray release; not on MeTV networks |

Too bad A-Lad-In His Lamp was not included.
I can see getting all of Speedy out will be a slow process, but they included one that is not on TV at all (Gonzales' Tamales). Two Crows from Tacos is another misc. Freleng cartoon that isn't on TV. Ditto for Tom Turk and Daffy--at least, not on the MeTV networks. Of Fox and Hounds is badly in need of restoration, so kudos there. These cartoons exist in original (as opposed to reissued) form (but Warner's uses the reissue copy): Easy Peckin's, Cat-Tails for Two, Daffy Dilly, and possibly Horton Hatches the Egg (has censored content on TV, too). It'd be great to see a full restoration to the original issue for any or all of these, but I'd bet against it. Easy Peckin's is a really funny misc. McKimson cartoon, which was not in the CBS Saturday morning package, and isn't on TV very often. Same with Cat-Tails for Two, which is the first Speedy cartoon. In this one McKimson's prototype form for Speedy is completely changed by Freleng a few years later. Freleng also pairs him with Sylvester at that time in the Oscar-winning cartoon, Speedy Gonzales. Oddest pick: A Kiddie's Kitty -- a really forgettable Freleng cartoon from the mid-50s. |

A couple of notes from The Extras podcast on Looney Tunes Collector's Vault Vol. 1 --
Beauty and the Beast, a 1934 early (Cinecolor) Merrie Melodies cartoon, is not shown on MeTV, for whatever reason. Jerry and George announced that Double or Mutton was erroneously included, since it was also on Collector's Choice Vol. 4. To make up for that, they are adding an extra cartoon on the future Vol. 2 Vault. One other note. They didn't discuss Much Ado About Nutting--but what a wonderful cartoon. It's another Chuck Jones/Michael Maltese masterpiece, and it's carried only by beautiful animation and a wonderfully-synchronized score (other than its opening credits music choice)--no dialog. |

Ain't That Ducky is the one that is in most need of being restored. METV is still using the old Turner print.

George indicted a real appreciation for the early Avery cartoons. This gives me hope that Believe it or Else will be properly restored. They previously used the 1990s Turner dubbed version, which is censored. It needs to be restored from the original negative. |

At some point MeTV needs access to the recently restored cartoons. They have gotten a couple, but I don't think they even have a restored copy of Beanstalk Bunny yet.
Hard to know if that's on purpose, or somebody's asleep at the switch. |

Which is weird, since they (Warner Brothers and Weigel Broadcasting) seem to be in a good partnership right now. Warner Brothers also shares the restored prints with METV Toons for all the Hanna-Barbera cartoons. For instance, the restored Huckleberry Hound Show makes it debut on METV Toons.
