i only saw the one episode with Rachael Ray and NPH, and while they were good, every show hosted by Regis seems the same to me - overall wasn't interesting enough for me to watch again.

I agree. Steve Schirripa was a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible player. He was a terrrrrrrrrrible player. He took too long to respond to clues and when it was his turn to give clues, the ones her gave were beyond ridiculous.

Sara Evans sucked in the first game, but I think she stepped it up a bit for the second part. Still not great, but better.

I feel sorry for all four contestants. You could tell how pissed they were to be stuck with such horrible players.

The best I have seen are Neil Patrick Harris, Rosie O'Donnell and Betty White.

Sunday's episode did 8.55 million in the ratings

Steven Weber was pretty good too, but I think that's the episode you missed.

The version you're thinking of is "Super Password" which ran on NBC daytime from 1984 to 1989 and was hosted by Bert Convy. The special "Barney Miller" week (which had Hal Linden, Max Gail, Ron Carey, & Gregory Sierra) was from March 7, 1988 to March 11, 1988.

I never figured out how or why Million Dollar Password existed for CBS because when my dad recommended this show to me because I liked Regis Philbin I found Million Dollar Password unappealing. Because I think CBS was trying to make a 2000's Password and by adding Million Dollar to the title showed that this was a different version of Password than the original. Why Regis Philbin was chosen to host Million Dollar Password was simply because they were making him a Comeback Kid but he and Password didn't mix at all and they should've gotten another host instead of Regis. The other thing I noticed about this version of Password is that they put weird sound effects to make it modern for the 2000's like in the first rounds they put a basketball game buzzer and that doesn't fit Password at all and when a round was over the buzzer used for the timer sound effect was exactly the Family Feud strike indicator sound effect. But had they put computerized graphics the show would've been better. I think CBS wanted to promote it's shows by having celebrities like Phil Keoghan of The Amazing Race and Julie Chen of Big Brother and why William Shatner was on there i'll never know? But I think Betty White had a lot to do with why the show would be a hit because I think Betty White wanted to show that she could still do Password . But even with merchandise Million Dollar Password ended being a weak one-hit wonder game show for CBS

I think the main problem was with Million Dollar Password was that I think CBS overhyped it way too much and by the time it finally had it's debut episode people were so tired of hearing so much about it Million Dollar Password was gonna be given the title "one-hit wonder." But why CBS decided to air Million Dollar Password at night was really odd to me because CBS and nighttime game shows don't go together well in the game show soup. I mean look at Winning Lines and look at the failure of The Hollywood Game with Bob Goen from 1993. Because it seems that CBS has more success in the daytime market with The Price Is Right and Let's Make A Deal and if Million Dollar Password would've been put in the daytime hour to go with The Price Is Right it would've been successful then. But I know why Regis Philbin was chosen to host Million Dollar Password was because CBS thought he could get the show huge ratings since every single show he hosted got big sky high ratings because Regis was like a magic wizard and with Regis Philbin as the host of Million Dollar Password Regis thought his magic would score Million Dollar Password an audience. But they should've chosen better celebrity players that could play the game with ease. As I mentioned in my previous post how William Shatner got on Million Dollar Password is weird because he was weak and why Tony Hawk was featured as a celebrity player i'll never figure out
