Default Can't believe CBS gave in to Sally Struthers demands during 75-76

Nobody who watched All in the Family tuned in to watch her silly ass:lol: This snippet explains how she missed the 1st four eps of the 75-76 due to contract issues. They could have given Mike a new girl:lol::lol:

I disagree. She was really mistreated. Gloria was instrumental to the show. She was the lure for Mike (Archie's nemesis) to move in. Archie also needed a baby girl to protect and show a more sensitive side. Norman Lear treated her horribly and they gave her so few lines. However once she put her foot down the show got better for her because once the kids moved out Gloria's role was increased and she enjoyed the show.
My favorite All In The Family episodes in the early years were when Gloria had a bigger role. For example in Mike Comes Into Money she really shines. She backs up Mike but then starts to question Mike and them mooching off her dad.

That's not her fault. I assume you read what Sally has come forward with and how she was disrespected by Lear. He would invite the entire cast to his house except her. She was not given much but the times there was some meat on the bone for her character she really shined and those are my favorite episodes. Her character created balance instead of Archie vs Meathead all the time.

I always compared her character to the daughter on Maude and it made her the gloria character look slow lol

No. Her and Rob left because the show ran its course. It was sort of run into the ground. Sally wanted to leave because the way she was treated by Lear and her minimal role. Sally said once she spoke out and the characters moved next door she actually liked working on the show. Sadly though the show was not as good by then.

And when she got her own show she was overshadowed by everyone on the set

I liked Gloria. She was a buffer between Mike and Archie. And she became a real head turner as the seasons went on.

Her story is similar to the actress who played Thelma on Good Times. In the first season of Good Times her lines were: good morning mom, hi dad, shut up JJ. Very similar to Gloria. The actress who played Thelma told Esther Role and Esther went to producers immediately and told them to develop her daughter's character more.
The story that Sally tells about Normal Lear inviting everyone from the set to his house except her is so wrong.
IMHO when she started to have a bigger role the show had jumped the shark when the kids moved next door and Joey came.

I loved Gloria on AITF but her own show was bad. And I never liked the Joey episodes.
