Default Good Influence

The mom puts the boys to bed and tells her kid to be brave like Chip.
Then it looks like she opens a door/long window and lets the night air in. Is that what she is doing? Are they upstairs or downstairs?

Even back then I would be a little freaked out with a way for someone to get in.

Maybe I am not seeing it correctly.

I think we'll need a little more to go on. Which season? Is it Sudsy's mom? Thanks.

Season 2. Episode called Good Influence. Not Sudsy's mom. Some stranger's kid's mom.

Just a general comment since I'm not picking up on the episode: when you see these older shows you can't help but notice how things have changed. Beaver walking in from school and picking up a cookie without washing his hands (and maybe putting it back into the cookie jar); or passing a food item to someone else. Or on Hazel a kid is left behind at a gas station and Hazel takes charge of her. Today Hazel would probably be arrested.

Thanks, I didn't realize you had the episode name as your thread title.

I think ranch houses would've been rare in Bryant Park from what we've
seen in the series; likely the boy's bedroom is upstairs in a 2-story house.

It appears that the area below the center curtain is a solid part of the
wall, as seen here, which would be below a window -- or it could be a
step, an "up" level under double doors:

I can't say for certain, but she may be opening casement-style
windows, which open side-to-side fully -- which is more dramatic
than just having a double-hung window (where usually only the
bottom sash comes up to make a half-opening):

So doors would open onto a roof, maybe over an attached garage,
or balcony...?

If it's doors: Our family's friends had a Queen Anne era house with
doors that opened onto a small 2nd story room they used for storage.
But that would be no cause for worry about animals, and air is
rushing in when she opens up.

Brady Bunch measles episode when kids with fevers are just sent home to walk by themselves. No calling the parents to let them know.

I think there was one when Wally in LITB was sent home with a sore throat. No warning. Just boot them out the door to home. I guess moms were just guaranteed to be home.

Beaver and Larry, 2 kids around 10, going to a beach picnic area, with no adult supervision. And taking a rowboat out on Friends Lake.

No problem with any of that. June should have been pulling her hair out.

I finally looked up the episode--I kinda remember it. The other kid's parents take Chip and their kid up to their lake house. So the mother was probably opening the window at that house.

Those big images must be filling up your screen, try scrolling to the right.

Thank you stevea for mentioning it's a lake house, I had no memory of this episode. That would explain why it's apparently a first-floor bedroom (single story building).

Yes, you have the correct image. Its been years since I have seen any long windows like that. I am not sure how safe they are, but if they open onto a roof or balcony, then it makes sense.
Thanks for the work of capturing the images.

Speaking of Brady Bunch. In "The Voice of Christmas", Mike leaves 6-year-old Cindy alone in line to see Santa as he gets on the elevator to go to another floor. And, who is playing Santa? None other than Otis Campbell the Mayberry town drunk
