Default Belle was added to the show too fast

The very next episode after Flo's farewell they have Belle in the opening credits and she wasnt even seen on the show yet. Jolene was so much better maybe because she wasnt rushed into the show and not right after Flo

I think that was purposely done to keep continuity on the show. Flo was instantly replaced. Belle was also replaced just as fast. She does not even finish her season before the new waitress starts.

Wrapping up season 4 now and Im not a fan of her at all. The character wasnt EASED IN instead she was thrown in and was doing too much too soon.

Because she was the actress that played the original Alice she already knew Mel. The sitcom played off the movie and is why she eased in really fast. She had worked there before.

But that had nothing to do with the show. Unless you are saying Vic was in the movie

Oh, I think Jolene's intro was WAY MORE rushed than Belle's. Jolene was practically added during a Belle episode! Then in the following episode, it was as if Jolene had been there since day one. I thought at least with Belle, it was a smooth gradual transition, of Belle getting used to the diner, her getting to know the people, the customers, etc.... But it's like Jolene was added before Belle was hardly even out the door, then by the next episode EVERYONE acted like she'd been there forever lol

When Mel's mother appears for the first time when Jolene was there, I don't even think she questioned who she was, she just acted like she'd always been there, but with Belle, there was a whole introduction to Carrie

problem with belle was she was flo's replacement which was too much. Jolene on the other hand was just an addition to the show

No. The original Tommy was in the pilot. Its explained that Belle is coming back. They don't meet as total strangers. The sitcom is based on the movie and the original Tommy and then Belle were both in the movie. Of course the sitcom does not follow the movie exactly but its loosely connected at times. You are being too literal with asking if Vic was in the movie. The sitcom is a morphed premise from the movie. In the movie Belle was Alice.
