Sad Roberta Flack (1937-2025) -- music icon

"Roberta Flack, who shot to fame in the 1970s for her hit records 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' and 'Killing Me Softly with His Song', has died aged 88. Flack revealed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with ALS, a degenerative disease."

Roberta Flack was truly a great of the music world.

I first discovered Roberta Flack when I was in an FYE store and her 1994 album Roberta was there and so I bought it and to my surprise I found Roberta amazing. I especially loved her cover of Sweet Georgia Brown which is fun. My aunt later got me Roberta Flack's debut album First Take which had her cover of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face which my mom liked after hearing it in the movie Play Misty For Me and that is a great song

Do you remember the song Tonight I Celebrate My Love? The song that goes,
"Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You"
"It Seems The Most Natural Thing To Do"
That's a classic Roberta Flack ballad and she and Peabo Bryson made the perfect duet together singing it. Was that the first duet Roberta and Peabo did together in history. And if my memory serves correctly Roberta Flack sang the theme song to The Hogan Family/Valerie/Valerie's House titled Together Through The Years

Bonnie did you ever hear Roberta's cover of Sweet Georgia Brown? That's my favorite song of hers and who knew she could turn the Harlem Globetrotters theme into a jazzy tune

One of my favorite songs of hers was "You're Lookin' Like Love to Me," a very underrated duet with Peabo Bryson -- from their 1983 album "Born to Love." Superb song! Let me know if you remember that one.
