What are some bands who may have been a very good band, but had a name that likely turned people off checking them out?

I like them, but I'll say Three Dog Night. They did a lot great songs with great music and lyrics, but I have to wonder if the band name put some people off. It seems like just three random words thrown together. But it's my understanding that there's a meaning behind it. Apparently, a "three dog night" is a night so cold in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions that you'd have to snuggle up with 3 sled dogs to keep warm. And I do agree it's a weird band name, so I wonder if some people might've heard the band's name and thought, no they don't sound like something I want to listen to? But then again there's worse band names out there, LOL.

I'm sure that the band's name stopped some people from listening to the Barenaked Ladies.

I don't know how much of a hit took place if one actually did, but the only acts that come to my mind are the Dixie Chicks and Lady Antebellum, but they of course changed their names eventually because of the words Dixie and Antebellum being such a big deal in their opinions. To me, the names should've been left alone. If anything, using them only added another meaning to the words that were removed. They don't like what the words originally stand for and so using them should've only made the words mean something better.
God bless you and both acts always!!! Holly (a girl who passes on the Dixie Chicks for other reasons) P.S. If the homosexual people can add another meaning to the word "gay", why can't that be done with the words Dixie and Antebellum? |

American Rock band Butthole Surfers. I don't think record companies were too trilled with the band name either

I think that was a genius of a name, and the only reason that I ever heard of them. The name that I hated the most and made sure I never heard a note of their music was the Dead Kennedys. |
