Sure, the Sole Survivor gets the glory for winning their season, but do "Survivor" contestants get paid to play the game, and if so, how much?

I'm a casual fan, but my sister is a huge "Survivor" nut. She listens to former contestants' podcasts and follows their social media..

She told me that it wasn't always that way in the beginning, but former contestants have said that they get paid per episode they are on. Also, the winner is not the only one who gets prize money as the top 3 contestants all get money.

I also didn't realize that it is in their contracts that the contestants can't make plans to split their prize money with other players if they advance in the game.
