Not really. If they kept him evil and non-conflicted, he would have exhausted his story possibilities pretty quickly. IIRC, even after he became somewhat sympathetic, he still sort of went back and forth between "anti hero" and I guess, "anti villain".

If they had not made him a complex character, the show would have been dead two years before it was, IMO, if not sooner.

All true. But, the episodes were great the more rotten he was.

I don't agree. Complexity is almost always more interesting than out and out villainy. He was a good bad guy, but he was also a good anti-hero. I think they were wise in wanting to strike a balance.

Everyone is different what piques their interest. When Frid was a rat I couldn't get enough of it.
I still enjoy it but its not edge of your seat.

He could be very menacing as Barnabas. Make-up was a very important factor in how scary Barnabas could be. Sometimes they got his make-up just right and it was superb. Other times it was cartoonish which could somewhat lessen the overall effect of his presence and the episode(s). I didn't mind nice Barnabas nor his touching devotion to his little sister Sarah. The thing that sometimes irks me is his over-the-top obsession with Josette.

He was hated by the viewer when he was a serial killing insane heartless shrewd piece of crap.
But, it was intense when he came close to getting his but wiggled out of it all the time.

I particularly liked the sheriff who almost unraveled the mess.

The woman who played Sarah said frid (a notorious line flubber)would help her with her lines before a shoot.

I dont have a clue how to use the controls at the top of this box?

Nice that a post can be edited after the fact.

Only 2 minutes in the color episodes of WML to question and guess the celebrity. Would have been interesting with a little more time if they would have got him.

In the color episodes they're too busy doing silly demonstrations (like I've Got a Secret does) to give enough time for interesting mystery guests.
