Since I turned 43-years-old, I decided to make a list of my 43 favorite sitcoms. There are some guidelines, however. Each show has to be American made. It has to be live-action. It has to be complete, meaning no longer in production. And it has to be available either on DVD or streaming (that way I can have certain marathons featuring these 43 shows). “The Odd Couple” would be on the list but even though it’s on DVD, too many of the episodes are butchered for music rights, that I can’t enjoy it anymore.
#1) NewsRadio (1995-1999) #2) Taxi (1978-1983) #3) Chico and the Man (1974-1978) #4) Boy Meets World (1993-2000) #5) Wings (1990-1997) #6) I Love Lucy (1951-1957) #7) Ellen (1994-1998) #8) That ‘70s Show (1998-2006) #9) Community (2009-2015) #10) Mister Ed (1961-1966) #11) The Office (2005-2013) #12) Andy Richter Controls the Universe (2002-2003) #13) The Honeymooners (1955-1956) #14) Night Court (1984-1992) #15) Hey Dude (1989-1991) #16) Mom (2013-2021) #17) Rhoda (1974-1978) #18) Newhart (1982-1990) #19) The Joey Bishop Show (1962-1965)* #20) The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1959-1963) #21) Too Close for Comfort (1980-1987) #22) Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1993-2000) #23) ‘til Death (2006-2010) #24) Blossom (1991-1995) #25) One Day at a Time (1975-1984) #26) Parks & Recreation (2009-2015) #27) Ned and Stacey (1995-1997) #28) F Troop (1965-1967) #29) The King of Queens (1998-2007) #30) Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-2024) #31) Head of the Class (1986-1991) #32) Cheers (1982-1993) #33) Superstore (2016-2021) #34) The Monkees (1966-1968) #35) Spin City (1996-2002) #36) Becker (1998-2004) #37) Call Me Kat (2021-2023) #38) Welcome Back, Kotter (1975-1979) #39) The Munsters (1964-1966) #40) Family Matters (1989-1998) #41) Married… with Children (1987-1997) #42) How to Marry a Millionaire (1957-1959) #43) Perfect Strangers (1986-1993) *I don’t count the 1961-62 season of The Joey Bishop Show as canon and therefore don’t include it as a part of the show for this list. One of the rare times I do this. |

Yes, I've always been drawn more to the obscure. I have a few mainstream hits on this list but most of them are "B-Shows". Like how I include Rhoda but not Mary Tyler Moore, and Saved by the Bell: The New Class but not Saved by the Bell. And then I have not too well-known shows like 'til Death and How to Marry a Millionaire.

27 shows on that list I would consider likes of mine.

What about The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour? I consider that an extension of I Love Lucy, just with double length episodes. And why no foreign shows?

If I included The Odd Couple on the list, it would be #14. I LOVE that show, however, as mentioned the DVDs are too butchered for me to really enjoy.
