Default Season 1 Observations

Just completed season 1 and it was a lot of bloopers which was the boom mic being seen in certain eps or a crew member

The show made reference to four ABC shows that was on at the time Alice aired.........Charlie's Angels, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley and Welcome Back Kotter

Flo moves in with alice, never knew that

The interactions between Mel and Vera is high level comedy

TV Fact: The last episode to air in season 1..."Mel's Happy Burger" was the first episode shot for season 1. Info from "Life Behind the Counter

If I remember right, in season 1 Vera contributes VERY LITTLE to the storylines, and she's mostly just there as a background filler

IMHO not really. Many parents put their child above themselves. Many would say it would be cruel to have a child grow up on a sofa instead of a bed. Alice was a good mom.

True and I think Alice realized teenagers do need privacy

^The diner looks different in the whole first season, compared to how it looked thereafter.

To me, Linda Lavin was at her funniest in season 1- anyone else agree?

In the first season- or at least the first batch of episodes -Vera was portrayed similar to how she was in the movie. Then, the character came out of her shell.

Linda Lavin had her funny moments but the true comedy in this show comes from

Flo
Vera

The first episode was modeled after the movie much more so. Alfred Luther plays Tommy in it, and he played Tommy in the movie, and the diner looked more like an ACTUAL diner than a stage set-up I think, AND it was called Mel and Ruby's Cafe in the first episode like it was in the movie. I don't think it became known as Mel's Diner until the second episode

Yes the diner gets revamped for season 2. The curtains are gone and the cash register is moved. I think there are different bar stools too. Different wall decor too.
