Confused Why was The Evans' Dilemma not shown during original run

The episode The Evan's Dilemma is shown in syndication but was not originally shown. It seems out of place during the last season because there is no Florida and no Penny. Did the network not approve of Thelma getting slapped?
Does anyone know?

Since the show was already cancelled CBS decided to make the end of the rainbow the last airing on 8/1/79 which was ep 22. The dilemma ep was ep 23 so it was no need to show it

That does not make sense. It clearly was filmed before the mom came back right? If it was already filmed why not air it and then still have the final episode.
The only way that would make sense is if CBS wanted the show off the air immediately and let them film a goodbye show.
It was the end of the season anyway.

I was wrong, the Dilemma episode was produced before End of the rainbow and was never aired. Part of it was because after the january airing of the House Hunting episode, the show went on Hiatus until May and CBS knew the show wasnt going to be renewed

I wonder if it was filmed as the lead off episode to season 6 before Esther committed to come back. Once she committed to come back maybe it was left out of the season since it would not make sense to not have Florida there.
It was a pretty shocking episode with Thelma getting slapped by her husband.
My guess is Florida not being there is a clue when it was filmed. It could or should have been the last episode of season 5. Maybe they were holding it for season 6 but then Florida was back and they thought it would be weird for her to be missing again.
