NBC made this move to air Hello Larry after Diff'rent Strokes and
Not much of a difference. The lost of viewers from 8pm to 8:30pm was crazy
Different strokes was #14 and Hello Larry was #45?? So then NBC tries something else and decided to make Larry Alder Mr. Drummond buddy and to get some of DS audience on March 30 1979 by airing Different strokes for an hour, 8 to 9pm. So how did the numbers look after the crossover when the two shows aired back to back on April 6, 1979? Well Different Strokes was #19 and HL was still in the 40's-(#44) I didnt think the show was that bad. It was better than the Ropers. After the 2nd crossover on Sept 30 1979, the gap tighten a little as DS finished #22 and HL moved up to #. The Thanksgiving crossover they improve things as HL next episode was below 40 again. So DS fans could not get into HL |
