Families did get by on one salary back in the '60s. And women today still choose careers over their romantic lives, so I don't agree with Reiner that Sally's story is outdated.

It's not unrealistic at all. The unrealistic part is a wife/mom of seven years or whatever walking into a group of professional dancers and holding her own.
