And I recognized the guy who plays Chris in this. He played Sonja's boyfriend Michael in two episodes of Mama's Family. I always enjoyed him on that show. He was pretty funny as Michael.

I was always a fan of Larry and the Darryls. They were weird but very funny characters.

It's been mentioned here before that these guys have some similarities with the Darlings of the Andy Griffith Show. They're in a rustic community, but the other characters consider them to be primitive. One talks, the others are silent. And both Larry and Briscoe Darling sometimes speak with an exaggerated courtliness.

They were funny for awhile but then they became like one of those recurring characters on SNL that wear out their welcome after the 10th time. If you've ever watched SNL, you'll know what I mean.

I feel kind of sorry for William Sanderson, because he had a somewhat decent movie career before the show and much greater range than Newhart allowed. He deserved better than to be remembered as the Larry Darryl Darryl Guy:
