Anyone here ever see the movie "Peyton Place" (1957)? I think it ROCKS!!!! Did anyone see the TV movies or TV series? I watched the original and the sequel (Return to Peyton Place) back-to-back yesterday and I really fell in love with them. My favorite characters are Constance MacKenzie (Lana Turner), Allison MacKenzie (Diane Varsi), and Selena Cross (Hope Lange). I think it's a shame that Grace Metalious, who wrote the novels, died a few months before the first TV show premiered in 1964.

I've seen the movie but don't recall it that well. I do know that the TV series Peyton Place was groundbreaking at the time because of its storylines about young love/sex. This was also, I believe, the first nighttime soap opera. I was very little but I remember all the hype about it. This put Mia Farrow and Ryan O'Neal on the map.
I'd love to see the series. I can hear the theme music now. |

I've seen that movie several times and thought it was very good. Very good actors. The sequel wasn't nearly as good though. It had a different cast. I have both of the books too.

Has anyone here ever see the 1957 drama "Peyton Place?" It was about the lives of the citizens of Peyton Place, New England. It was GREAT movie, imo. All of the actors and actresses did such great jobs in their roles. My favorite character is definatly Constance McKenzie, played by Lana Turner. I also like the 1961 sequel "Return to Peyton Place." I've never seen the popular 1964-1969 primetime soap based on the original movie though. I wish I could see that AND read the book that the whole series was based on.

I taped it last week or the week before and watched it. Yes, it was a good movie, very risque for the 1950s though. I watched it to see David Nelson (Ted Carter).

I've seen it several times and also read the book. The movie was very good with brilliant actors. One of my favorites from the 50's. I didn't care so much for the sequel though. I would have liked it better if it had the same cast as the first one.
