Ron O'Neal, who appeared as Whitley's father in a few episodes has passed away after a long battle with cancer at the age of 66.
I loved it when he canceled all of Whitley's credit cards and said "welcome to the real world." She was so spoiled. Though, he'll always be remembered as "Superfly." RIP Ron

Ron O'Neal was from my hometown Cleveland, Ohio. Last movie i saw him in was Original Gangstas with Fred Williamson, Jim Brown, Pam Grier, Richard Roundtree. That movie came out in 1996 and it reunited black actors of the 70's who had did blaxploitation movies. It was a good movie. The movie was filmed in Fred Williamson's hometown Gary, Indiana which is also where The Jackson 5 are from. I never saw Ron's Superfly movie. RIP Ron.
