Default Loving / The City

When my mother and I would spend many happy hours watching soap operas one soap opera that Mom and I would watch sometimes was ABC's Loving and I would like to know if anyone remembers Loving? It was the soap opera that introduced the characters Ava Dinah Lee and Cooper who was played by Michael Weatherly. After Loving ended the show was redone with new characters and retitled The City,
Did you like watching Loving/The City?,

Did you know that Morgan Fairchild was on The City when Loving became The City? When Mom and I first saw The City we were surprised that she was on it,
Thank you for your reply,

I don't believe I ever watched an episode of this show! I believe it aired at 12:30, and many stations preempted the show for local news broadcasts. I lived in multiple cities during the show's run, but don't recall ever catching an episode. I have since watched a few episodes on YouTube. Of course, The Young & The Restless aired at 12:30 when I lived in Charlotte, so I might have been too busy to watch it!

When Loving ended I often wondered why ABC decided to rename Loving The City? Was it a continuation of Loving with some of the Loving characters in a new world in the city? Because whenever The City debuted I thought it was a really cool soap opera that introduced Loving in an awesome cool world and it had a really awesome theme song and intro as well

Yes it was supposed to be a continuation of Loving, several characters from Loving went to The City but by the time it ended most were gone.

Another fact about Loving was that every season that Loving would be on the theme song and intro was different each time. In Season 1 Loving had a wonderful intro with Disney type music and a beautiful blue color would accompany the logo. Then in 1989 Loving had a wonderful theme song sung by the talented Johnny Mathis with a impressive intro. In it's final season in 1995 Jeffrey Osborne sang the theme song and Loving also had an intro change as well. There are also two more Loving intros and theme songs during the seasons as well
I learned about these Loving intros because my mom and I used to watch soap operas together and we used to learn about the theme intros because for me and Mom our favorite parts where the intro theme songs and clips

I think when Loving became The City I think ABC had been wanting to do a soap opera spin-off with the Loving characters and seeing how this would work would give ABC Daytime huge ratings. Because when Loving made it's debut in 1983 ABC was hopeful that Loving would be a monster hit and when it ended in 1995 ABC knew it was time to introduce a new soap opera that would show what happened to the Loving characters after Loving ended and The City was born but I think when Season 2 of The City began was when it went downhill and you can see why The City was short-lived because I think they made The City too cool and many fans of Loving were disappointed at this new image The City did to Loving. I also think that the no longer in business electronics store chain Circuit City got it's new logo inspired by The City because when you see the logo for The City it's the exact same Circuit City Logo but it says The City instead of Circuit City
