On tonight's AMW, one of the fugitives profiled was Gloria Schulze, the drunken driver who killed 21-year-old Angela Maher (the founder of the Scottsdale Chapter of Students Against Drunking Driving) in Arizona in 1994. You'll all remember the case from UM. Schulze disappeared before her conviction and has been on the run ever since.
http://www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=79442 I'm glad to see AMW picking up this case. Schulze has been on the run for far too long. |

Is this the first time they showed her on AMW? I can't believe she still hasn't been caught, she doesn't look like a hard person to identify.

I'm surprised as well that she hasn't been caught. Sure her crime was terrible, but she's not the kind of person that you would think could disappear for all this time. I'm not in any way downplaying the damage she did, but she's more of an unintended criminal rather than someone who fully intended to live outside the law. Usually its the career criminal type with multiple charges and/or convictions that successfully go on the run, as if they had already prepared how to hide even before they started committing their crimes.

Hard to believe it's been almost 18 years since this crime occurred, but at least profiling her again on AMW sends out the message that just because a lot of time has passed doesn't mean people still aren't looking for you. Hell, we had a quite few UM fugitives captured last year who had been on the run for a decade or more, such as Mahfuz Huq, Wade Mitchell Parker and Arturo Lopez.

It was mentioned on the show yesterday that Schulze's family was well-to-do so maybe someone there is helping her hide. Because I have no idea how she hasn't been caught yet.

It's appalling that GS still hasn't been caught yet. She's been on the run since the mid-1990's. It seems evident that she's had help in "disappearing", and/or that someone out there knows where she is. She'd only be in her late 50's, so is probably still alive.
