This morning I got to see the 1997 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Youtube and I was surprised at how well 1997's Macy's Thanksgiving Day was compared to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades of today and the 1997 parade was the beginning of when Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was actually worth watching. This parade from what I saw had many debuts the first being the debut of the Arthur balloon and Rugrats balloon and two other short-lived balloons Bumpe and Miss Petula Pig and singer Wynonna made her parade debut too. In 1997 The Rockettes dressed as toy soldiers and performed The Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers in this parade while we saw the Broadway plays Smokey Joe's Cafe Street Corner Symphony Side Show Titanic and Chicago being featured in the parade as well. My mom who came in to see me said she was impressed with this parade and wondered why Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades today aren't like this one anymore and Macy's should go back to their old formula with today's parades
Do you remember watching this Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1997? |
