Eva Shoen case on A&E's Cold Case Files - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

On Tuesday (November 12), Cold Case Files (a show that airs on the A&E channel) featured a segment on the 1990 murder of U-Haul heiress Eva Shoen. UM did a segment on that murder in late 1992. There was speculation that the murder was connected to the business feuds her husband, Sam Shoen, was involved in.

However, in 1993, a suspect named Frank Marquis was arrested. Evidence, including some DNA, was discovered, and pointed to Marquis. He confessed to the crime, saying that it resulted from a failed burglary attempt. In 1994, Marquis plead guilty to manslaugher and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Although the evidence proved that Frank Marquis was Eva Shoen's killer, Shoen's widower, Sam Shoen, isn't convinced that the case is completely closed. An autopsy found needle marks on Eva Shoen. Eva was something of a strong person, and Sam believes that there were at least two people involved in her death, and that Marquis had to have had an accomplice. That way, one person would overpower her while another would inject her with drugs.

If you ever get a chance to see Cold Case Files, please do so. It's a good bet that the murder of Eva Shoen isn't the only UM case to be featured on CCF. I will try to find out if there are others.

There have been some others. They featured the strange arsonist in California (the one who taped his fire). They also did a segment about Oba Chandler, who murdered a woman and her two daughters in Florida. That's all I remember off-hand; if I think of any more, I'll add to this list.

Cold Case Files is one of my favorite shows.
