Default Which kids are closest in age to each other?

It seems each boy was a little older than each girl of their same position, i.e. Bobby is a little older than Cindy, Peter a little older than Jan, and Greg a bit older than Marcia. But yet we consider Greg and Marcia the oldest, Peter and Jan the Middle and Bobby and Cindy the youngest. But I'm wondering who is really closest in age, would it be like:

Greg/Marcia, Peter/Jan, and Bobby/ Cindy, or....

Marcia/Peter, and Jan/Bobby

Like is Marcia supposed to be as much older than Peter as Peter is older than Jan?

And Peter and Jan are always considered the "middle children", when really, Marcia, Peter, Jan, and Bobby would ALL technically be middle children with Greg being the oldest and Cindy the youngest

Starting from about the halfway point of season 2, Greg seems to be written much older than the others.

First in Season 2, while Peter, Jan and Cindy make the Glee club and Bobby is playing drums, Greg and Marcia are not included.

Then in Season 3, when Peter has a party because he wants to show off his new personality, Marcia & Jan are at the party, Greg isn't.
A couple of episodes later, when Marcia is cast as Juliette, Peter and Jan are also in the same play.

Greg gets his license early in Season 3, after the Grand Canyon episodes. Marcia doesn't get licence until halfway through Season 5, by which time the series was almost over.

In real life it does work out the Brady male was older than the Brady female.

As I'm watching, it almost seems like Marcia and Peter are really close in age, maybe even more so than Greg and Marcia. However Jan does look quite a bit older than Bobby.

In season 3 Jan was in 7th, Peter in 8th and Marcia in 9th all at Fillmore Junior High. Marcia graduates Jr. High at the end of season 3 so we know she was in 9th. In the Power of the press Marcia as well as Greg say that they had Mr. Price in the past and Jan says she won't have him until next year which leads me to believe that Marcia is a year older than Peter and Jan is a year younger than Peter. In the season 1 episode vote for Brady it is mentioned that Greg is a year older than Marcia.

In real life the biggest age gap is between Jan and Bobby.
The closest age gap is between Peter and Jan.
The second closes age gap is between Bobby and Cindy.

Marcia is closer in age to Peter (a little over a year) than to Greg (not quite 2 years).
