Default Post Office is Immortalizing Alex Trebek With a Forever Stamp

It will be announced by Ken Jennings, a man who Alex himself was full of praise for, on tonight's episode of Jeopardy!

Doesn't the Post Office have to wait ten years from when Alex died. What has it been, about 4 years now since Alex died. ?

Answer: Who is Alex Trebek?

_________________________________________________

The longtime TV host, who died in 2020 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, is being remembered with a new Forever stamp by the United States Postal Service. The stamp, which officially goes on sale on July 22 (2024), coincides with the show's 60th Diamond Celebration, which honors its remarkable six decades on air.

The sheet of 20 identical stamps features the display of video monitors seen on "Jeopardy!" alongside a photo of Trebek.

Written on each stamp is the clue: "This naturalized U.S. citizen hosted the quiz show 'Jeopardy!' for 37 seasons." Underneath, written upside down, is the response: "Who is Alex Trebek?"

The show's current host, Ken Jennings, announced the stamps during Friday's episode.

Trebek, 80, died on Nov. 8 2020 following a long and public battle with pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2019. Despite the diagnosis, he never missed a day of work.

Trebek told "CBS Sunday Morning" in May 2019 that "it wouldn't be right" for him to walk away from the show.

"It wouldn't be right for me to walk away from this if I can possibly do it," Trebek said. "And I managed to do it. So, what's the big deal?"

Trebek started on the quiz show in 1984, and hosted more than 8,000 episodes, taking home six Daytime Emmys.

You do know that the "forever" stamps are good to use "forever" regardless if there is a "stamp" hike in pricing?

Also, you don't know much about STAMP COLLECTING do you?

I have a USPS sheet of stamps from the 1990's when a stamp cost 34 cents. The sheet has 50 stamps, one for each state of the union and the stamps are quite colorful. This might have some value to it these days but I don't know for sure.

Yes that's the sheet I have, thanks for looking it up. Each stamp has a price of 34 cents. There's another sheet of these state stamps where the stamps are priced at 37 cents after there was a 3 cent increase in the cost of stamps.

But I don't think you know what a "forever stamp" is all about ...

I could be wrong -- I believe the US Postal Service does a new "FOREVER STAMP" when there is going to be a "new rate hike" like what is coming in July 2024. If you have a "forever stamp" you won't have to add extra stamps to mailing something. The pictures tells the postal workers how much to charge for the stamps.

Britain uses "1st" on first-class stamps that are always good for postage. The Netherlands uses a 1. Canada uses a letter P (for permanent) with a maple leaf as a backdrop. What do we use? The infantine word "Forever," which allows for the design of stamps that say "LIBERTY FOREVER", JUSTICE FOREVER", or "FREEDOM FOREVER" lest anyone not Get It. Typical of the infantilization and the dumbing of America.
