Anybody actually like the addition of the spaced out April? I didn't but I was curious to get opinions?

Her voice was too squeaky but she wasn't that bad.

She could've stayed but I guess they ran out of ideas for her.

Did she quit acting? Never saw here anywhere again.

I liked her, because she seemed more normal than the two, boring as dirt, Rush girls.

I never understood why April (Deena Freeman) was added to the show in the second season. She was superfluous. An unnecessary addition.

The producers must've thought so too, because they didn't bring her back for the third season.

Does anybody know why she was cast in the first place?

I didn't hate her or anything, but I didn't see what she added to the show. They had a good cast in place and they had Monroe for all the crazy, zany stuff.

According to Lydia Cornell, her management, without her knowing, asked for a huge raise claiming she was the star of the show. The production company also produced Three's Company and had just dealt with the Suzanne Somers situation. They apparently panicked and brought on the April character just in case it got nasty with Lydia's management. When Lydia found out she was upset with her agents because she apparently would've done the show for free and wasn't looking for a huge raise.

The character of April was gone by the end of season 2. I believe Deena Freeman at one point played Dorothy's daughter in at least one episode of Golden Girls.
