It wasn't necessary to mention who lives in the APT before Jack because

the living situation seems weird with Elenanor. Why was she have her own room and why did she do all the cooking? She sounds more like a parent than a roommate. The way the apt was set up it was no reason to mention who lived there before Jack because of the two beds in one of the rooms. That seems like a setup for a Family like One Day at a time and Ann has her own room while Julie and Barbara shared a room. Janet and Chrissy was two grown ass women sharing a room like they was kids

But I guess it would make more sense if they said Elenanor had a live in boyfriend and they moved out to get married. But why would Janet and Chrissy live with another woman and her man? was they homeless? lol And when Jack moved in the other was not occupied so that means janet and chrissy was sleeping in the same bedroom when it was another one free. ???

It was a two bedroom apartment. Shared by three people. Somebody is going to get the single room maybe being the cook has some perks! They could have easily put another bed in Jack's room like the other room.

But why was 3 people in a 2 bedroom apt? lol Normally in that situation its a couple with 2 kids. I would think 3 grown women would all want their personal space

You are forgetting the whole premise of why they invited Jack to be a roommate. 3 people shared a 2 bedroom apartment because they were broke. It was a good mention that Eleanor did the cooking because when they heard Jack was in cooking school not only could he be a man for protection, help pay the rent, but he was an awesome cook. He wowed them with that first breakfast. If they all had their own bedroom it made them look much better off. This is why the later seasons the premise no longer worked. Instead of patches on jeans and unemployment and struggling to pay the rent. Jack had his own restaurant, Terri was an emergency room nurse, and Janet was the manager of the flower shop. The girls were wearing designer clothes too. There was no reason for them to share an apartment anymore.
Mentioning Eleanor and her cooking and having her own room made it easier for Jack to slide in. Since Eleanor had a baby and was getting married, I am sure her fiancé stayed over with her in the bedroom.

Long story short, it was sort of necessary to mention who was in the apartment before Jack to lay the groundwork for Jack's purpose.

There are very few sitcoms that have continuity from its pilot episode. But Threes Company had 2 major ones. In the pilot Jack's cooking in the kitchen and says he will be a chef by 1980 and Janet says "It takes that long?" Sure enough Jack graduates from cooking school as a chef in 1980.
In the episode "Eleanor Returns", Jack wants to cook all the girls a dinner and Chrissy says they are letting Eleanor cook dinner tonight for old times sake. She did all the cooking before Jack moved in.

what Im saying is it wasnt necessary to mention Elenenor living with the girls because she wasn even in the 1st episode. She didnt show up until season 3 out of nowhere. So since she did show up her living there was odd since she had her own room And why did she lol

I understood you. I thought the pilot worked really well. The roommate had to go to the hospital to give birth during her baby shower or farewell party. Finding a passed out guy in the tub was a good introduction as crazy as it was. But I think that is based on the original British version. We needed a vacant room for Jack to move into, right? We needed it to be a single room and to make it more humble the girls share a room. We needed it to happen fast so they could pay the rent. Remember during the pilot another woman comes to look at the apartment and Janet says others are coming. The breakfast that Jack made really wowed them enough that Jack could be a roommate especially since Eleanor did the cooking. The pilot laid the groundwork for Jack to move in.

Yes it needed to be a single room but a single room with a sensible explanation lol
