Default Bob Barker's Price is Right is Coming to BUZZR Starting May 28

which is the day after Memorial Day. This was BUZZR's Facebook post. "Bob Barker is coming on down to #BUZZR! 🤩Watch classic episodes of #ThePriceIsRight daily on #BUZZR from 3 to 5 p.m. ET starting Tuesday, May 28."

So I guess that after 24 years that rule that CBS wouldn’t allow any channel (save for streaming channels) to show this show has now been abolished.

I think it was more Bob Barker who wouldn't allow his version to air TV repeats while he was still alive.

Apparently it's because the Fremantle people had an exclusive agreement with Paramount which prevented the show from airing on other networks. This was on BUZZR's FAQ a few years ago

Quote:
We love game shows, we know you do too. There are many shows we wish we could bring to you. The reason we do not air shows like The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Hollywood Squares, The Dating Game, etc. isn’t because we don’t want to, it is because we do not have the rights to do so. All of the shows currently on BUZZR air because we’ve come to a legal agreement with the rights owner. Our parent company, Fremantle, gives us the rights to air some of the shows they own, like Match Game, Press Your Luck, Card Sharks and others. Whereas with other programs, we have licensed the rights from the original owner and they grant us permission to broadcast. We are always listening to your requests, and this helps guide which shows we seek to license.

The Price is Right is owned by Fremantle, so why isn’t it on air? True! Fremantle does own The Price Is Right, but it currently remains exclusive to Fremantle's broadcast partner and because BUZZR supports all of Fremantle's existing relationships, The Price Is Right does not currently air on BUZZR.
And this is from their wikipedia page, which discusses where the show is aired

Quote:
Fremantle has an exclusivity agreement with Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS and Pluto TV, giving Paramount the rights to all episodes of The Price Is Right from 1972 onward, for this reason, Fremantle cannot air Price reruns on Buzzr's over-the-air affiliates, nor can they license out the show to other networks.

Why I think Buzzr decided to finally air reruns of Bob Barker's The Price Is Right was simply because since Bob Barker died last year Buzzr has always wanted to air Bob Barker's The Price Is Right reruns and the only TPIR reruns that Buzzr aired was the 50's Bill Cullen version and so now that Bob Barker has been dead since last year Buzzr finally got their wish and are finally gonna air the Bob Barker version of The Price Is Right. Because since TPIR is a Fremantle game show and Buzzr is a Fremantle channel I think this show will be Buzzr's most watched game show in reruns just as Family Feud with Steve Harvey is GSN's most watched overhyped game show. One thing that's got me curious is what decades of TPIR will Buzzr air? The 1970's episodes the 1980's episodes or the 1990's episodes?

It’s the 1980s episodes where they will air Season 13 episodes starting May 28.

Bob Barker being alive had nothing to do with it. The reason why was literally a post above you, lol.

If this is such a huge demand big get high profile thing for them, why are they burying it in the afternoon?

Crazy Where's Bob?

I agree with "opus" here, the Barker Price is Right SHOULD be seen in prime time between 8 and midnight, even if it means repeating the episodes they showed earlier that day. I'm sure there are plenty of people who work during 3 to 5 pm who would be happy to watch the show at night. A popular show like PIR should be seen in prime time. Must be some crazy rule BUZZR must follow that tells them it's not to be on at night. Otherwise this is a no-brainer, most popular show, naturally should be on at the most popular time.

And just as an aside, can Buzzr not get any real genuine commercials on their shows. GSN in the old days always had real commercials like the networks would carry, Jello, Dishwashing liquid, McDonalds, Crest etc. Why are we Buzzr people punished with depressing abused animal and freak children ads?

There's 24/7 channels on Pluto for it too that you can watch, morning or night, for both the Barker and Carey eras.

BUZZR might not be allowed to air TPIR in primetime with CBS often putting primetime editions of current TPIR there.

At Least BUZZR did a right thing for putting Barker TPIR in the Afternoon Hours inwhich the Carey Primetime TPIR on CBS should not be impacted.
