Default Is Boomerang a former shell of itself?

Do you guys think Boomerang is a former shell of itself after Dave Byer left?

The network was never fully what it should have been. They really needed help with scheduling and programming shows in the right slots.

It seems like people don't actually watch these channels nowadays...

Boomerang has been airing more classic cartoons in the last few months than they have in years. In addition to Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby Doo, they've also been airing Yogi Bear, Flintstones, Jetsons, Popeye, etc. They do splice in newer iterations of classic shows like What's New Scooby Doo and Duck Dodgers, but...I think it's fair game to air those, most of them are now 20 years old.

Boomerang might as well join Nicktoons and TeenNick now.

Compared to those channels (and any owned by Paramount), Boomerang's is way better. So are the Disney ones.

Why pay to watch Boomerang, when you can watch the same toons on METV for free? Starting on Memorial Day the Flintstones is moving to the 6:30am slot before Toon In With ME.

Only reason Boomerang started bringing the old stuff back, was because METV was having some success with their retro animation blocks. That is also the reason Warner Brothers is partnering with them on the new METV Toons network.

I'll pay for whatever I'd like, thanks. Also, MeTV isn't "free" since it's included in the TV package I buy. On top of that, METV isn't available in all markets so not everyone has access to it unless they PAY for Frndly TV to get it.

Cool. Doesn't matter. My point is that Boomerang is now airing more classic shows, and their schedule has more variety than Nicktoons and Teen Nick's do. Saying the channels are all "the same" at the moment is just false.

Well you will probably be paying for a dead network soon.

Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and TVLand dropping all the classic shows and cartoons back in the 2000's was why I originally dropped cable and satellite television in 2012 and never looked back.

Awesome. "Cable is dying neener neener neener". Yeah, I'm aware of that, thanks. If that's the case, then why do you care about TV schedules for "dead networks". Do explain why you come here to complain and whine about "irrelevant TV channels" then.

Because if it wasn't for METV proving that there are still fans of classic cartoons, Boomerang wouldn't have
brought the same old cartoons that METV is airing back, again. Until just recently, the Boomerang network was just a dumping ground for Cartoon Network originals.

METV also took a big risk alienating fans by airing classic cartoons on their network, when no one else, including cable and straming was willing to take the risk. If it wasn't for a huge fan outrage, Max was going to remove Looney Tunes from streaming last year.

Probably the best version of Boomerang was when it was the overnight block of cartoons on Cartoon Network then the original version of the stand alone / spinoff channel.

As for why older cartoons are returning to Boomerang is that the audience is more older folks than younger kids.

Boomerang hasn't been the same since 2010. I remember watching it around 2004-06 where the channel was stacked with great shows. It became Cartoon Network 2 once the higher ups felt that retro cartoons had no place in television and we know how wrong they were with that mindset. Even Cartoon Network started off like Boomerang back in 1992.

Clearly the demand for retro cartoons is here to stay. So many local channels use to do a Saturday morning cartoon block but all disappeared. Credit to MeTV for bringing it back and it paid off.

MeTV Toons will succeed as long as it doesn't following the same suit as CN or Boomerang. Where they slowly phased out the old cartoons for new ones. We were all worried the main MeTV would do that for their own shows and so far it has not happened.
