I guess this is because NBC doesn't have enough room on their holiday schedule for Annie Live!. At least they rebroadcast Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors last Friday (December 15).

This makes me wonder how many consecutive times a single network can air a new holiday special after its premiere before it gets shafted in favor of other (mostly older) holiday specials in future years.

NBC renewed all of the current Chicago shows, Law and Order, and Law and Order: SVU. Noticeably absent from that list is Law and Order: Organized Crime. I think it will be renanceled later (renewed for a final season).

Knowing that scripted shows can't stay in first-run forever, if there were a decision to end one of Richard Wolf's Chicago shows in the future, which would go first: Med, Fire, or P.D.?

Also, where would a Law & Order: Organized Crime cancellation leave Elliott Stabler storyline-wise? Him getting a promotion to Sergeant or something (Stabler is still a Detective, 1st Grade on L&O: OC)? Stabler joining the main cast of the original Law & Order?

Med will likely be cancelled first if any of the Chicagos go, it hasn't been syndicated like the other two. Christopher Meloni left SVU a long time ago several years before Organized Crime existed, he might not want to return there as a regular.

There is a report on TVLine that NBC's potential bid on a package of NBA games could include two games airing during NBC primetime each week.

This will mean more cancellations than usual at the network after the 2024-25 season. Three nights of sports in the fall (NBC already has Sunday Night NFL)? This is going to be worse than NFL Thursday Night Football taking away timeslots on CBS while The Big Bang Theory was still on top creatively. I don't understand why those two weekly NBA games can't just be on USA Network (which is already losing WWE Monday Night Raw to Netflix next season). Reports like this are solely to get people riled up before anything becomes official.

Night Court is NBC's highest rated sitcom. It is not going anywhere, just hasn't officially been renewed yet. John Laroquette is getting up there in age though, don't know how much longer he will want to continue.

This paragraph comes from a Deadline article.
"With NBC focusing largely on procedurals and multi-camera comedies, observers see Happy’s Place as a viable option, potentially paired with another multi-cam sitcom like Night Court, whose renewal is still pending as the network and producing studio Warner Bros. TV are haggling over episode count." (Happy's Place is the new sitcom starring Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman. I hope Melissa can still host Person, Place, or Thing if this gets a series order).

If that happens, it would most likely be Sundays and Fridays as ABC/ESPN have Saturday already. Sundays are pretty much empty of new shows already after football, and Friday is Dateline for 2 hours and a lot of repeats at 8pm. Yes not ideal, but not the same effect as Thursday football.

It becomes a problem if NBC has two nights of NBA games during football season when Sunday isn't available. Did you post at the Zap2it forums? I remember your username.

ABC is keeping the NBA (Saturdays on ABC, Wed/Fri on ESPN). NBC is potentially getting the Turner package (but NBC would air Friday nights and Sunday late night). Amazon is getting the new Thursday package.
