Does anyone know why Bill Bixby doesn't have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and whether there's been any campaign to make it happen?

I don't know of a campaign to get him a star, and frankly if there was I wouldn't join it. I don't think the Walk of Fame is that important. It wouldn't add anything to his career. Besides, it's very difficult to get a posthumous star, as they only award one per year. Somebody has to raise $15,000 to pay for it, last I heard. I think if fans want to do fund-raising, there are better causes to put energy into.
As for why he didn't get one in his lifetime, I don't know. Maybe he didn't want to buy himself one. aewen |

have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame when many lesser known celebrities do). I have always felt that Bill Bixby was one of the most underrated actors in the business. TV GUIDE summed it up best ... BILL BIXBY (My Favorite Martian, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, The Magician, The Incredible Hulk) Memorable traits: A demeanor that bespoke boundless reserves of empathy. He listened to you, be you stranded extraterrestrial or precious TV imp. Staying power: Others bemoan second-fiddle roles; Bixby built a career on them. He gave more to TV than title characters such as the Martian (Ray Walston), the child (Brandon Cruz), and his ferocious alter-ego, the growly green giant (Lou Ferrigno), who in a minute of mayhem solved problems the thoughtful David Banner wrestled with for the majority of the hour. This nice guy finished first! TV Guide Online |
