Silly Questions about the episode "Stanley's Hotline"

Why wouldnt Jack Girlfriend Linda sleep in his bed since they was in a relationship while Jack sleep on the couch? It made more sense for her to sleep in her boyfriend's bed instead of another woman's bed.

And did Linda bring her own sheets and pillow cases or she just sleep on Janet's sheets and pillow cases?


So ABC couldnt do one episode without Joyce Dewitt and had to bring another woman to sleep in the apt? Unless the plan was to make her the new roommate and her and Jack break up

Joyce was in a dispute with ABC about a raise. She called in sick to protest. Her raise was approved and she was to come back to work. However the cast had already practiced the episode with Jack's girlfriend as a stand in for Janet. Because time was short they kept the girlfriend in the episode. She is taking Chrissy's lines other than the few lines explaining why she is there. So in that sense it makes sense for her to be in Chrissy's bed.
They never really showed unmarried couples sleeping together in sitcoms in the 1970s.

Yes, Jack's girlfriend explains why she is in the apartment and sleeping in Janet's bed. Jack goes to touch her or flirt with her and she says something like "as long as I am staying in the apartment while Janet is visiting her parents we have an agreement there wont be any hanky panky.
Something along those lines.

I dont remember any girl bedroom scenes in the episode. But lots of bathroom scenes. We get to see the Roper's bathroom. We never get to see the Roper's kitchen though.

I don't know what people do now, but in the past when you knew someone was coming to visit, you changed the sheets of the bed the person was going to sleep in. Even if it was a guest bed that no one in the family slept in, the host would put fresh sheets on the bed as a courtesy. There's a joke about this in the film, "Sixteen Candles." The little brother tells his mom, "I just hope you burn the sheets and mattresses after he leaves." Sheets weren't very expensive so it wouldn't be unusual for Janet to have two sets if she didn't have time to wash the sheets she was using.

Nope! As you know, things were just different back then. ABC gave Oscar and Felix girlfriends and dates on "The Odd Couple" so they wouldn't appear gay. "Three's Company" kept two women in the apartment to make sure hanky panky wasn't implied. Also, Chrissy's dad was a minister. An unmarried minister's daughter would not stay in an apartment with an unmarried man - at least not on TV back then. By keeping the girls in the same room, they could be each other's witnesses if someone implied that something hanky pankyish happened.

They did 3 eps without a 3rd roommate, one of them didnt take place at the apt at all which was the ski episode, the other one involved the restaurant with Jack as a bus boy and the one with Jack and Larry dating the same girl
