...only to find out the rest of the world finds those foods "gross" lol
For me, I was raised around a lot of older people, so I was fed my fair share of black licorice, Circus Peanuts, Orange Slice candy, Candy Corn, Moon Pies, Marshmellow Peeps,..... Now onto foods, I was fed things like chicken and dumplings, gravy and biscuits, salmon patties, lemon juice on my fried fish... That's just a few, I grew up eating this stuff and LOVED it, I assumed everyone did, then I find out most people find this stuff disgusting lol |

For me my favorite food I ate was ramen noodles and I used to enjoy eating it when I was little and still eat it today though I prefer Yakisoba noodles. But when my mom would make me some ramen my uncle would always eat some with me too and I guess you could say he was a copycat of me. Then as I grew older I discovered calamari and I didn't think I'd love it at first but one bite and I was hooked and I even would ask for seconds of it because I liked calamari so much and my mom liked it too. My mom and I used to share food sometimes but we don't often do it much anymore

Tongue.
Actually, cow's tongue, which is sliced like other deli meats and eaten in sandwiches. I don't eat it anymore because when I was about 30 I gave up most red meat. |

I guess what I mean is, I never dreamed that the stuff I was raised on was SOOO DISLIKED by SO MANY people. Every time I get on facebook I see meme after meme about how nasty circus peanuts are or licorice, and I would have never imagined so many people would find gravy and biscuit disgusting lol

And with Aging, comes more Wisdom and knowing that so many foods can be mixed and why not, try new food combos? I've c hanged so much in the last few years with the foods I mix and eat....all very tasty.
Last evening, I cooked 2 yellow organic potatos and added some coconut oil and salt and pepper and omg how tasty. A delightful treat...my neighbor gave me some yellow organic taters as she was overstocked and what a gift.... |

My late mom was big on potatoes. At one point when very young in the late 1930s, she was planting them behind her dad's plowing - powered by mules. He didn't have a son to do some of that work for some years yet.
I eat more seafood than I used to, especially crab and tuna salad. I used to avoid green peppers, mushrooms, and black olives, but not anymore. They mix well with lots of dishes. |

I don't like licorice or circus peanuts and I made myself sick as a dog on some candy corn when I was a kid! |

I remember once at a fish fry I was looking for some lemon to put on my fish and couldn't find any, so I asked and someone was like, "You put lemon on FISH?!? That's an interesting combo! Never heard of that before!" So I was starting to think it was one of those "Old people from the South type things" and I like it because I was raised by a lot of older Southern people lolIt's amazing how many people have never heard of gravy and biscuit |

If you're referring to me calling it "gravy and biscuit", I usually make a point to call it that intentionally. Because when I was little I loved getting it from Hardees' and it was always advertised as "Gravy N Biscuit" and theirs was SOOOO GOOD!!! So every since then, it just STUCK.... to ME it makes it sound more appetizing
