For the most part, a lot of the cartoons on today are pretty horrible for anyone, in my opinion.
There are some that I like- but very few and far between. |

Unfortunately, you are not making the distinction between children's cartoons and adult animation.
I'm a South Park fan, but I'm also the first to say that it's not created for kids. Like Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show, Archer, Black Dynamite, et all; it was made for an adult audience. Most of the stuff created for kids is mind numbing to us adults, but we also have to remember that the stuff we grew up watching hasn't aged well either. I adored The Superfriends and Scooby Doo as a child, but re-watching them again (thanks Boomerang!) made me realize that they were pretty cringe-worthy. |

But it depends- I like a lot of things made for kids. It's the animation made for adults that I don't like. (Though even some cartoons aimed at kids I don't like either.) It's really up to everyone's individual tastes though- I think it's important for every family and/or individual to be selective on what they allow themselves to watch. Not everything out there is the best, certainly. |

The best animated shows are the ones made for both adults and children. Adults can still watch and enjoy cartoons like Looney Tunes, The Flintstones, Jetsons, Batman The Animated Series, and Jonny Quest, with their kids or grandchildren..

All age groups can enjoy the older theatrical cartoons or animated shows. |

The notion that all cartoons today are bad is simply not the case. It depends on your taste and what caters to you. Cartoons like Big Mouth and the like, yes they aren't catered to children. Family Guy and South Park are tame enough today for kids to watch.

Back in the day cartoons used to be for everyone to watch and when you had classic cartoons like The Flintstones The Jetsons Jonny Quest and others they were a joy for everybody to watch. But once the 70's ended and the 80's began we saw cartoons like Care Bears My Little Pony and The Smurfs make their debuts they were wholesome cartoons with lessons to learn. But when superhero cartoons became a fad in the 80's they became so popular with boys as well as girls but they took a turn when some parents thought they were teaching children violence and giving them personality changes and that's when cartoons began changing their image. And beginning with The Simpsons they were the first adult cartoon and even though The Simpsons was geared to adults it had a kid fanbase. But South Park was truly the start of the adult cartoon trend and soon more adult based cartoons followed. But when looking through the TV telescope now even some kids cartoons have started to put adult jokes and humor in them. Take Spongebob Squarepants for example and when Spongebob Squarepants began on Nickelodeon the show even though it was made for children had adult humor and some of the humor the show had was not for children and when you look at Rick And Morty that show has few kid fans even though it's aimed at the adult and teen audience because of the profanity in some episodes. But this is the new modern market for cartoons because they want to market to adults but kids cartoons that kids can actually watch should make a comeback in the future
