As campaign strategist Eli Gold, Cumming was a huge fan favorite. But he was ready to say goodbye to the drama that earned him three Emmy nominations but sadly, no wins.

“I really enjoyed him but I’m quite sanguine about these things. Everyone has an obsession in America to run things into the ground rather than just allowing them to end. I’m glad it ended the way it did.”

"I’m the most indiscreet person," Cumming told the room of reporters at the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter press tour on Wednesday. "When I was on The Good Wife and Will was murdered — do you remember Will was shot? — I told everyone."

"I can’t understand how that didn’t get out," he admitted with a laugh. "I remember once doing this fashion thing, and I sat down and a guy starts to do my hair, and he goes, 'I’m a huge fan of The Good Wife,' and I go, 'Will dies!' I mean, I told the hairdresser, who is statistically the worst person you can tell a secret to."
