A relative of mine was the long-time producer of an information show that ran on PBS. The show was owned by the host. After 30 or so years on PBS the host brought the show to cable to make more money. Not only didn't he bring the producer with him, he wouldn't even take his phone calls while the deal was being ironed out. |

"Judy Justice" Plotting National Syndication Launch in Fall 2024
by Nellie Andreeva October 31, 2023 The plan for "Judy Justice" to foray into broadcast syndication is coming into focus. According to sources, the Amazon Freevee court show, created by and starring Judy Sheindlin, is being taken out to stations by Scott Koondel’s Sox Entertainment, targeting a fall 2024 launch. As Deadline noted in May, when rumors about a potential syndication play first surfaced, the move would make the first original court show on streaming also the first streaming show to sell into broadcast syndication. About 260 episodes have streamed on Freevee over the first two seasons. The show, which has been renewed by the Amazon free, ad-supported platform for two more seasons, will have close to 400 episodes available by the time of its planned fall 2024 rollout. None of them have been exposed to linear viewers so "Judy Justice" would be considered broadcast syndication exclusives. https://deadline.com/2023/10/judy-ju...24-1235587813/ |

"Judy Justice" Set for Fall 2024 Syndication Launch
by Nellie Andreeva January 24, 2024 It’s official — "Judy Justice" is headed to broadcast syndication for fall 2024 launch. Scott Koondel’s Sox Entertainment, which distributes the Amazon Freevee show, has closed multi-year deals with major broadcast groups including Nexstar, Sunbeam, Cox Media, Weigel, and Mission Broadcasting in well over 100 U.S broadcast markets, including all of the top 10. The company made the joint announcement with Amazon MGM Studios. “We are thrilled to bring Judy Justice to linear television audiences nationwide. With Judge Judy Sheindlin at the helm, viewers can expect a compelling and thought-provoking legal experience in high definition for the first time in broadcast,” said Koondel, CEO for Sox Entertainment and executive producer of Judy Justice. “I’m grateful that TV station groups have embraced this new innovative syndication model with talent that has been on broadcast stations for 28 years.” https://deadline.com/2024/01/judy-ju...ch-1235804026/ |

Does this announcement mean that the same 200+ streaming episodes that I have been streaming on Freevee for over a year or more will now be broadcast on glorious TV syndication?

Sheindlin's Amazon Freevee court show will debut in syndication this fall after being cleared in 95% of the country, despite CBS “trying to keep Judy out of the marketplace,” an insider told Page Six, which adds: "CBS was banking on local markets buying up reruns of Scheindlin’s old show, and was left gobsmacked when she hit the market with a new product for stations to buy. Unfortunately for CBS, a source says, they’re now stuck selling repeats of Judge Judy, which has less value in the marketplace while other stations have the option to air original shows from Judy Justice." |
