Which network had the best era in the 70's introducing new sitcoms:
CBS '70 - '75 or ABC '75 - '79?

i voted cbs abc had alot of good shows back then but cbs had groundbreaking sitcoms the only real groundbreakers abc had back then were soap and mini series like rich man poor man and roots

CBS was the innovater in this one. ABC was good too, but CBS attemped with race, and ABC used sex, which was daring on TV at the time.

that is a tough question. I voted CBS mainly for M*A*S*H and Bob Newhart Show, but Happy Days is still a good show just not as groundbreaking.

On the whole, I prefer CBS of the early seventies. "All In The Family" was arguably the most revolutionary sitcom in history, and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" remains a textbook example of sitcom acting and writing (as was "The Bob Newhart Show" to a lesser extent). Add "M*A*S*H" to the mix, and that's simply great stuff. The ABC shows cited weren't bad -- "Barney Miller" is particularly underrated -- but the writing wasn't quite as good.
