Also, randomly, some discs in the set have hubs that sit too high for pc, snap-in type dvd players. Use caution with anything but sliding drawer, clamp style players. You'll feel the "weird" discs rubbing against the pc drive plastic, plus they don't snap in place quite right. Beware!
I dont think no one is surprised Ralph's Rival is still edited. But atleast after so many years, we finally got to see the actual scene

I have the original releases of seasons 1-6 from Anchor Bay and I think I'll just stay with those, not really interested to have seasons 7 and 8 or The Ropers and Three's A Crowd.

I wonder if there's a problem with the English soundtrack of the tag scene from Ralph's Rival and that's why it's cut from the DVD?

Yup. I shoulda guessed: "Hell, naw!"

But I did go ahead and make my own complete version with captions to throw in with the rest.. There's so much extra room in that big plastic box anyway.

One of the members of this board arranged a private viewing of the broadcast master direct from the archive source and noted that the original audio for that scene was in particularly bad shape.

Now, the way I see it, there's no reason it couldn't have been included with a disclaimer (the new set has one about possible flaws being noticeable) or, at least, as an extra.

Problem is, I guess, we the consumer must be protected from any kind of video dropout, sound problem or otherwise. We can't know that these are old tapes with problems. They don't mind giving us slightly degraded copies of these shows in this set, though (an extra line of blur/edge enhancement is most noticeable on the titles, credits, bright contrast scenes of which most of the show is comprised, and some extra motion blur).

Worse yet, when films get released we must be protected from picture flaws, period-specific special effects limitations, splices, dirt, scratches, original color timing and any and all instances where film might look like film.

Just know that when there are flaws, we, the consumers, are.. protected!!

Thanks for your comments, I agree that the tag scene could have been included on the DVD with a disclaimer about the substandard audio quality.

I have a few DVD sets from VEI, drama series such as Dan August, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Petrocelli, and the DVD's include a disclaimer which says "Due to the age of the films there may be visual anomolies and defects which you may or may not notice that we are unable to correct", or something like that.

This set does, as mentioned, have that disclaimer that things might not look that great due to the age and source material. I think it was mainly to cover the added distortion from their copying the episodes, plus the much-discussed, burnt-in anomalies like the quad color banding of the early season episodes. Lots of folks thought their discs were faulty because of those orange and green bands that would show up, especially in closeups of faces where the skin tones would look "off".

This set is a mixed bag of good-for-fans stuff like the 2 short lived series, but lacking in extras for those, plus a lost opportunity to include the infamous missing tag in glorious, damaged quality.

Unless Three's a Crowd and Ropers is UNCUT, its not much of a bonus since both shows can be viewed on Youtube and available on DVD already

Thanks for posting a link to the tag scene in the other thread here, spoken in Italian with English transcript, looks like it runs about 35 seconds.

No problem, I felt that every diehard TC fan should see the 35 seconds that we been missing for so many years. And I was actually accused of being wrong about it being a tag scene for Ralph's rival lol

If Jennilee Harrison had stayed on with the show to the end, I would have the whole series on DVD. Jennilee was a good replacement for Suzanne Somers. The main reason why I don't have seasons 7 and 8 is because I'm not all that fond of Priscilla Barnes.

That's probably because she couldnt hide the fact that she didnt like being on the show and you was able to see that

Yep she would act like she preferred not to be there and the Terri character just didn't appeal to me. I almost didn't buy the 6th season DVD but I bought it because Jennilee is in at least some of those episodes.

That is a good point. I checked 2 episodes of Three's a Crowd and the dvd runs a half to a whole minute more per episode. I'll need to do some a/b comparisons to see if material was added or cut.

This is the complete edit I did with English subs for "Ralph's Rival" if anybody wants it:
