I found The Camper from season 1 to be pretty good. Sure it features the usual cliches about everything that can go wrong does go wrong. I thought it was pretty realistic about kids having fights/disagreements entering the "I'm not talking to _____". They had the two kids Mike and Harold not talking and then the other Mayberry foursome, Sam, Goober, Howard and Emmett following suit. I actually enjoyed watching Sam, the easiest going person on the show, become frustrated and losing his cool.
I think it was a pretty good episode. |

I liked the episode where they are trying to help the Italian restaurant and the cast did a musical fundraiser. Looked like Ken had a great time singing and dancing. The California episodes were good also.

S1 E19 The Camper I remember was great. I distinctly remember it because it was the first time I laughed out loud into season 1. I'm up to S2 E 22 The Health Fund and that's another rare zany hilarious one. I enjoy the many stinker recycled TAGS script episodes. Looking forward to season 3 the IMDb ratings look atrocious.
I'm really surprised Bob Mosher wrote quite a few of the TAGS recycled scripts (and some poorly). Been fun seeing the old gang after not seeing MRFD for quite a few years.. |

From Season 3, Mike's Project is pretty good. It's about the father's trying to outdo the other's kids history projects. The fort diorama was pretty good in my opinion. And it looked like something a kid could actually do. The one that Sam and Goober helped fabricate (teepee) looked more like a movie prop and was way over the top.
I actually wanted to see the twinkling lights that were installed for lighting in the barracks (fort) and campfire. |

I wonder if some of the plots involving Mike had originated as TAGS ideas with Opie in mind -- for example, when Mike gets the copy machine (RFD Season 1).
One of the episodes I've enjoyed was when Howard, Emmett, and Goober painted Sam's house (Season 3), but the ones I most want to re-watch either centered on Millie or had a guest actor I'm interested in (Ruta Lee and Darleen Carr). |

I like those episodes where the doofus boys, Emmett and Goober, come up with some wacky idea, like painting Sam's house, with predictably bad results. One of my favorites was Howard, the Dream Spinner from season 3. In that one the doofus boys come up with a joke on Howard, and of course goody two shoes Sam objects. |
