Ahh, finally this is the news I've been patiently or not so patiently waiting for. The complete set is finally coming.
I've been holding off all this time buying the season by season releases waiting finally for the complete set to be released before I pounced. Though a bit odd that they choose to release this just a couple days before Christmas (Dec. 19). If this was to be a gift it would probably be too late to give it to someone. Not to mention you may be broke by Dec. 19 and not be able to afford it that close to Christmas even for yourself. Seems this should be released at the beginning of December when everybody is still in the money not in the middle . Though to be a Debbie Downer seeing how these releases have gone so far it may not be till February next year before it's actually released. The good news is it's now finally in the works!

I can see why this series set was delayed, since it appears they finally just finished season 14. It was delayed a couple of times, even the "real" release was delayed around a week, with no official rescheduling.
So as of now they have it done, all mastered, so it really should be released sometime in November. Let's see if they move it up. I gotta say, in the early seasons the episodes sometimes show their age, with varying picture problems here or there. They are mastered to 4X3 aspect ratio HD, but released on DVD. As the series progresses, the picture quality improves. The writing got sharper, and the boys' wives really added to to comedy in the later seasons. I enjoy the casting and writing much more in the later seasons. I'm really looking forward to watching the complete 14th season--all episodes are in glorious color, except the one episode that is held over from season 13, "The Nelsons Revisited." |

I agree that the release date should be in November or early December. It would make the perfect gift for the Ozzie and Harriet fan.
It doesn't really seem fair that people bought the individual season sets don't get the 2 extra discs with special features. They should sell them seperately or make them available with proof of purchase. Were any of those special features included on previous releases? The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet: The Complete Restored Series - 50-disc set includes all 14 seasons of the hit show + 2 brand new extra discs packed with hours of materials! Special Features include: Featurettes: The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet Revisited, Ozzie's Boys, Remembering Ricky, Restoring History, A Conversation with Ozzie ● Cast Commercials ● Promotional Spots ● Ricky's Birthday Surprise ● Doing Right By David ● Nelson Family Home Movies (1930s-1950s) ● Rick Nelson Home Movies (1960s) ● Ozzie & Harriet Christmas Special ● The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet Radio Show – February 20, 1949 Purchase it from Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...daysonline3-20

I figured that a complete series release with extras and special features would be forthcoming once the 14 individual seasons were issued. MPI wants to milk this like a cash cow. I'm not really much for special features so I'm fine with the individual seasons, I just wish MPI had formatted the DVD's in full screen, instead they pillarboxed them. For those like me who watch on a CRT TV, the episodes play with black bars on all four sides of the screen which is not really a good thing at all.
The other thing with the DVD's is that about a dozen episodes are rebroadcast versions instead of the original airings. I imagine that maybe this couldn't be avoided because the originals might be damaged or lost so they had to go with the rebroadcasts, it's only about a dozen episodes out of the 435 so not really a major issue, for me the main issue is the lack of full screen formatting. |

The following was a bonus features disc of Vol. 2 of the O & H set that was released by Time Life a couple of years ago:
Remembering Ricky Restoring History A Conversation with Ozzie Cast Commercials Promotional Spots Ricky's Birthday Surprise Doing Right By David Nelson Family Home Movies (1930s-1950s) Rick Nelson Home Movies (1960s) Ozzie & Harriet Christmas Special The radio episode is available at archive.org . It's also on the set "The Best of The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet" released by Shout! Factory. |

The color episodes from the 14th season look very good on the DVD's.

As I mentioned in another post, the only black and white episode, "The Nelsons Revisited", was a holdover from season 13. |

Too bad that The Nelsons Revisited episode is in black and white, but as you said it was a holdover show from season 13. |

Some years ago I purchased an "unofficial" DVD set of the Batman TV series with Adam West, the set has 24 DVD's, 20 discs with the 120 episodes from the series, and 4 bonus discs with extra material, one of the bonus discs has the 1966 Batman movie. All the episodes from season 1, and a few from season 2 have the ABC Network in color bumpers at the beginning.
Since then, the series has had an official DVD release but I haven't purchased it because I'm content with the set I have. I'd be curious to know if the official DVD's also have the ABC Network in color bumpers at the start of the episodes. The unofficial set I have appears sourced from network prints, episodes are complete and there are "Place Commercial Here" bumpers in between scenes, and also includes the next weeks villain announcement/bumper at the end of episodes. |

I don't know that answer, but I'm at a loss as to why these bumpers aren't normally included. I got one of those unofficial sets of Silver Spoons, and the season 4 episodes taken from MeTV Chicago were complete with the original "will return after these messages" bumpers. Obviously, network print full dubs. The Home Improvement official DVD sets had no bumpers, yet those animated bumpers were very clever and imaginative.

Now that the complete series is out, I am hoping Sam might turn his attention to some other shows. I'd like to see Ozzie's Girls - four eps are on You Tube, but certainly the Nelson family must have others. There was also a terrific film Dave did of Rick and the Stone Canyon Band on tour in 1970 titled "Easy to Be Free". A few clips from that film turned up later in Dave's tribute to his brother, "Rick Nelson: A Brother Remembers", which aired on the Disney Channel in 1987. This also should be released on DVD.
